Welcome to Mableton

Diversity, low taxes, affordable homes, proximity to Atlanta, and a wonderful school district — there really isn’t a reason not to move to Mableton, Georgia. Locals can take advantage of the perks of suburban living all while living minutes from Interstates 285 and 20. Homes cost less here than they do in other parts of the metro area, and the property taxes are much lower than they are in nearby Fulton County. This makes it a great place for those who work in Atlanta to build a future, raise a family, and get away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

History of Mableton

Mableton’s history dates back to 1843 when a man named Robert Mable purchased 300 acres of land just west of Atlanta and built two homes and a sawmill. His home, which was once used as a hospital for Civil War soldiers, still stands today. By 1881, the city was a railroad town, as the Southern Railway opened a station there. For four years between 1912 and 1916, Mapleton was actually an incorporated town, but today, it is simply a census-designated community in Cobb County. Many of the community’s historic homes and sites are still standing, including the famed Mable House that belonged to Robert Mable.
